JAMES & MORGAN | OLYMPIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Morgan and James were married at Walter Dacon Winery on a beautiful summer day a little over 2 weeks ago.  This was a special wedding for me because the bride is a dear friend of my sisters.  Morgan has been such a good friend to her through good and bad, she is the definition of a true friend, and for that I love her.  My sis and her husband flew out from Ohio for the wedding.  So it was fun photographing a wedding that she was a bridesmaid in!

Morgan and James make the perfect match.  They share the unique love of diving and certainly know how to have fun together.  The wedding was intimate and beautiful.  Tashana, with Tahana Klonius Designs, coordinated and designed many parts of the wedding.  The colors were rich, warm, jewel tones and the tables at the reception were gorgeous!  The succulent favors were such a great idea.  I like gifts you can plant.  That is what we did for our wedding favors…daisy seeds to all guests for them to plant.  And then there were the kilts!  Yes, the kilts.  Love it.  I hope you enjoy the photos.

Congratulations you two!  Much Love, Katie

AND WE ARE OFF!

Today, Greg and I leave for Lake Tahoe!  We are photographing my good friend, Rachel’s, sister’s wedding.  Rachel is also the fabulously organized and spirited person behind Klink! wedding coordination and event planning.

We are renting a car and making the 10-11 hour drive ourselves.  Are we crazy?  Perhaps.  Why rent a car?  Well, because our car is about to fall to pieces, so we are kind of “babying” it I guess and trying not to completely run it into the ground!  I used priceline.com to book our hotels and got some sweet deals!  We are driving half way tonight and staying in Medford.  On Friday morning we will finish the drive and then stay two nights at a RESORT in Tahoe area.  No, I  know, money doesn’t grow on trees.  BUT let’s just say…priceline.com is awesome and my procrastination paid off!  I’ll post pics of the wedding, of course, and a little of our trip, too, when we get back.

So, that is where I will be.  I am almost caught up with my portrait sessions, but am certainly not getting things turned around as quickly as I’d like.  Thank you so much for those of you who are hanging in there with me and I promise to be caught up soon!

Hope you have a sunny and fun weekend…Katie

These two photos are from recent family gatherings.  This first one is Greg’s side of the family at David and Catalina’s wedding reception in Gig Harbor:

Last weekend was our Ritchie family reunion at Lake Wenatchee.  One disclaimer about group photos – its hard to get this many people to smile at once : )

Rachel [Klink!] - Agreed with the silky hair comment! It was so much fun finally getting a chance to really work with you Katie! What a whirlwind it was- but a beautiful and a fun one. I can’t wait to see the photos of your trip, and of course of my sister’s wedding.

ADDY | PORTLAND CHILDREN’S PHOTOGRAPHER

Earlier this month you saw Che, who came from Idaho to Portland for portraits.  And now I present to you Addy, all the way from Hawaii–just to see me.  Okay, I know, I know, I’m not really THAT cool.  She was in town with her mama, Kirsten, visiting grandparents and other family in Eugene.  But I was more than thrilled to be able to see them again because, you see, Kirsten and Cliff were my second wedding that I ever photographed.  It was a beautiful one too.  An abnormally warm day in April last year.  Kirsten was just radiant…anyhow, sorry, I’m going down memory lane without you.  Now, Addy is two and is filled with personality.  Look at all these expressions!

Rachel [Klink!] - Wow, what a sweet and perfect little girl! As always, you captured those beautiful eyes so well. Beautiful photography.

ISLA | PORTLAND NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

Baby Isla came early!  No complications, she was just ready to arrive on the scene sooner than expected : )  She is about 18 days old in these photos but because she was a preemie it was like photographing a 6 day old!  She was perfect.  And her parents have the most light filled bedroom I have ever seen.  I want to just set up shop right there  - it would be a perfect natural light studio!

Don’t be jealous, Isla is already rockin’ a great hairdo – check out that mohak : )  Congratulations Chris and Anne, she is beautiful!

RYAN & STEPHANIE | ENGAGED!

Ryan and Stephanie are two very wonderful people.  You know how sometimes you meet with someone and you just “click?”  I felt that way when I met these two several months ago to talk about their wedding.  They were sooo nice to me and you know what I love most about them?  They love my work!  They said, “We saw your website and Steph said, that’s the one!”  Okay, I love you guys already!  We had planned way in advance to do their engagement photos on a summer evening in July.  We did not know that it would be absolutely scorching hot out on this particular evening!  What struck me was the fact that neither of them said a peep about the heat, the mosquitos, the sweat, nothin’!  They are just happy people and made photographing them a breeze.  We picked blueberries out at Krugar’s Farm and then had packed a little picnic but cut that short because the mosquitos were literally swarming!  Oh well, we still got the shots we wanted : )  Looking forward to the wedding in October!
