  • Welcome!

Take a quick look around, and I think you'll get a pretty good feel for me, Katie Anderson, newborn photographer based in Salem, OR. I adore precious little newborns, pregnant mamas, and everything 'baby.' I love what I do. While there is some sameness to each newborn session, every baby is so special and unique. My hope is to deliver portraits that capture that uniqueness!

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you'll be in touch soon!

Cameron’s mom and grandmother are the creative brains behind and owners of a newborn prop shop, Kasey’s Creations, based out of Corvallis, Oregon.  His dad is in the Navy so his mom makes a lot of military-themed props.  Scroll down to see some of her work in action!

This little buddy joins 3 big sisters!  And I’m looking forward to seeing the whole family at auntie’s wedding next summer!  : )

Such gorgeous families and beautiful cherry blossoms made for Spring Mini Session perfection!  We had to work around the Oregon spring weather, but it was worth it for all of these portraits!!  A huge thank you to the families who came out and were ever so flexible.

A fun fact…each of these families are returning clients of mine!  I just love seeing the babies and kiddos grow and being a part of documenting their smiles.

xoxo, Katie

Leslie Broyles - You’re amazing

Born on a January morning, Acadia Tesla was 7 pounds 6 ounces and 19.5 inches long.  Mom, Dad and Big Sis are all so happy she is here! She was a gorgeous baby to photograph and her name is equally gorgeous and unique.

Acadia is a region of northeastern North America, famous for its beautiful Acadia National Park and as being the home of the people who later became the Cajuns of New Orleans. Her parents chose this name because they thought it was beautiful.  They also wanted another geographical name to go with their oldest daughters’ name, Tempe.

Nikola Tesla was a famous scientist and inventor. The unit used to measure magnetic fields was named after him.

Marisa Stalder Mckenney - Love love love!!! Thank you KA

The cherry blossoms at Oregon State Capitol State Park are truly breathtaking.  Sadly they are already gone this year.  Next year be on the lookout for them starting in March.  The last two years they have bloomed around the middle to the end of March.  They last only about two weeks, but those two weeks are simply splendid!!

I was so excited that Brenna and her sweet family were able to come up from Eugene for her maternity portraits to use the blossoms as our backdrop.  : )  They waited to find out whether baby was a boy or girl until the birth. My guess was girl…but alas, I was wrong. I’ll be photographing their new baby BOY soon!  I’ll bet big brother Ezekiel is already excitedly introducing his brother to the joys of being a boy.

I don’t publish enough of these two beauties on here!  I am feeling resolved to change that!!  Our girls, Amity and Verity, just turned 4.5 yrs old and 2.5yrs old in April.  I usually try to take some nice pictures of them around this time : )  We went to see the very last of the tulips at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm in the late evening to catch that gorgeous sunset light.  The tulip fields were dwindling, but the red clover was in full bloom and made a gorgeous backdrop!

Right now Amity is into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with super heroes still a close second.  She keeps reminding me that she is going to be either a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle or Spiderman for Halloween.  She is finishing up a 5 week swim lesson course this week and is already talking about moving onto the next thing: gymnastics.  If she had it her way we’d be doing swim, gymnastics, ballet, and piano all at the same time.  Nope.  Not gonna happen baby girl.  Not because she couldn’t handle it…because it has taken her commitment phobia mama all she has to commit to even 5 weeks of twice a week swim lessons.

Verity wants to be just like her big sister.  She will do anything that Amity does.  She loves to make us laugh by telling knock-knock jokes.  She completely butchers them ; )  She loves having books read to her and likes to point out all the things in each picture.  She is a quieter soul and I find her having a few more quiet moments than Amity.  Sometimes she’ll wander off and sit down with the legos or a book.  She loves babies and animals, specifically baby animals. : )

They like to turn on “princess music” (Disney station on Spotify) and put their princess dress up clothes on and twirl and dance in the living room.  Legos have started in our house, and this is something they both really like to do together.  Some nights they will take long baths playing and talking together…other nights they will be screeching and torturing each other and we pull them out real quick.  On that note there is a lot of sibling bickering going on these days, but I’m also very grateful they have each other to not just bicker and fight with but to learn how to share, take turns, look out for one another, play together, and love like only sisters can.

These two girls remind me of my greatest unanswered answered prayer.

I love you girls, Mama
