Katie Anderson Photography bio picture
  • Welcome!

Take a quick look around, and I think you'll get a pretty good feel for me, Katie Anderson, newborn photographer based in Salem, OR. I adore precious little newborns, pregnant mamas, and everything 'baby.' I love what I do. While there is some sameness to each newborn session, every baby is so special and unique. My hope is to deliver portraits that capture that uniqueness!

I have a BA in Interior Design from WSU. After working in architectural firms for 3 years, I made my photography hobby a career. I have been photographing professionally for 5 years now.

When it comes to the rest of my life, I've got my amazing husband of 10 years and am shamelessly obsessed and hopelessly in love with my two little girls, Amity (4 years old) and Verity (2 years old). No doubt you'll see their sweet faces brighten this screen from time to time!

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you'll be in touch soon!

This sweet baby girl just joined a really great family.  I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know them through our photo sessions.   One of our firsts was when I photographed Charlotte’s big brother as a newborn!  Congratulations you guys on adding this jewel to your family!!

The perfect little family….enjoy!!

My sister and her husband live in a far away land called Ohio.  I so wish they lived on the west coast, but alas they do not.  Several weeks ago I was able to go out for a long weekend (bless my husband for single dad-ing it) for a baby shower and we took her maternity photos.  She is 31 weeks in these photos and looking so stunning!  I can’t WAIT to meet my nephew/niece!!

Little Miss Independent hard at work putting on socks and shoes for school.  She gets an idea in her head, and that is the end of the story.  It is her way or the highway.  Sometimes I can distract her, but mostly I *try* to be patient and let her do it until she either succeeds or caves and asks, “I help-you?”

Her first class field trip!  They went to the pumpkin patch at EZ Orchards and had a blast (from what I understand!)  She was all a buzz to tell me about the van ride to and from, hay ride, picking out the perfect pumpkin, apple cider, and donuts.  She also made sure I knew that this pumpkin was for making pumpkin pie.  Of course!!

What’s that, Amity?  You have personal space?  Yeah…your sister totally ignores that and always saddles up as close as she can.  Look at their feet.  Monkey see, Monkey do.

Verity decided that was just too. much. work.  Phew!  “I’m just gonna lie down here, eat my snack, and watch you do your legos.  mmmkay?”

Kellie got these matching shirts for them, and I think they are just the cutest.  I’VE GOT THE BEST SISTER.  They sure do.  There is bickering, adoration, friendliness, love, fighting, sharing, squawking, helping, and so much more that passes between these two.  I love seeing their relationship grow, for the good and the ugly : )  I am forever grateful they have each other.

Greg may or may not have been dangling a wet pull-up over my head to get these smiles.

The girls had their 2nd/4th birthday part at the Riverfront Carousel on Saturday.  It was a big bash with lots of family and a few friends.  Between birth and adopted family – these girls have A LOT of family members who love to love on them!  I am so happy to have this photo of Ver squealing with delight on the carousel because at 3:30 this same morning she had been throwing up.  Yeah…that happened.  Last year Verity missed her first birthday party because she had a bad (albeit “normal”) reaction to one of the mmr vaccine.  So I had been applying Thieves oil and praying in the weeks leading up to their party that they would be WELL for their party.  3:30am we hear coughing and wimpering which led to an hour and half of Verity throwing up (4 times total).  She would not go back in her bed without her blankie and puppy so we had to wait for that load of laundry to be clean and thankfully by the time it was ready she was ready to go back down.  She woke up all smiles that morning but while at the kitchen table doing crafts with Amity she threw up a little AGAIN.  There wasn’t a good way to reschedule the party so we decided to move forward with it and–worst case scenario–one of us could stay home with her.  Well, she rallied and was drinking, eating, and took a great nap.  So, she was in!

Amity loved having everyone near and dear to her sing happy birthday.  She felt beyond special.  It made my heart happy to have them BOTH present and happy for this candle blowing : )

Oh the art projects!  They are in full swing now.  Her favorite is painting.  She paints 3-4 pictures in a sitting, 6-7 days a week.

For their birthday they were given these light brushes and a stunt streamer.  Greg had turned the lights down and was twirling the streamer for them to run through.  I love Ver’s face here.  It perfectly captures what was going on : )

They were dancing on the bed to princess music with their monkeys.  I had them sit for a photo, and Verity kissing her Monkey just kills me.  Also what you can’t see is that Verity’s undies are on inside out.  Like I said, she likes to do things herself : )

Mmmmmm, banana bread!!!  We make this often, and it never lasts for more than one day in our house.  Amity’s naps seem to be getting a little bit shorter (and I’m sure that is par for the course as she is almost four), so we usually have some time just the two of us while Verity finishes her nap.  We made banana bread this day.  She just loves to help.  And she especially loves to lick the batter from every utensil possible.  And it’s a vegan recipe so…lick away!  As you can see she was elbow deep in the mixing bowl.  I mean, why not?
